Android apps come to Windows 11 in 'preview' next month
Windows Central notes that the official Windows Blog announced that starting January 26, 2022, previews of Android apps on Windows 11 will be available to Windows Insider subscribers in the Release Preview Channel in the USA.
Engadget noted that support for Android apps was a key feature of Windows 11 at its reveal event, but it only reached regular users several months after the new Windows version was launched. However, it may be an important addition for both Microsoft and users. This will help if you want to use popular Android apps on your PC, of course, but it may also spark interest in both Windows 11 touchscreen PCs and the Microsoft Store.
Other media reports that this update will also bring other new features. Thus the Windows 11 taskbar should benefit from many improvements. Microsoft has planned to add a button to quickly activate or deactivate the microphone during a call, and it will also integrate the weather widget, which is already in Windows 10.
Microsoft is also indicating that the next stable release of its operating system will welcome the new version of its Notepad app as well as the new Windows Media Player, with each of these apps adopting Fluent Design codes and supporting the Windows 11 commitment dark theme for graphical changes.
