Why is hacking on XBOX One not possible?

Will Xbox one ever be hacked?

Hacking has been the predominant system in nearly all major consoles that have used discs in the past three decades. All PlayStation devices have been hacked in one way or another through vulnerabilities, just like the Microsoft Xbox. The Xbox One, however, was the only one that had not been hacked in its entire production life.

Currently, it is possible to hack the PS4 if you have a model with an outdated firmware, since there are security holes that allow you to do this on the console. If you have a recent firmware, it is not possible to downgrade. On the PS3, even if it had been updated, it was possible to downgrade, but it required hardware level adjustments.

However, Microsoft gradually learned from the mistakes of the past. With Xbox 360, it made a powerful program, but neglected the hardware, as they were able to hack it through a chip, and also play pirated games by penetrating the optical reader. Everything learned by Microsoft means Xbox One cannot be hacked, avoiding the ability to place a Blu-ray disc in the console.

For starters, we have an Xbox One that can only play signed code when it's not in developer mode. This means that only code signed by Microsoft can be run, which prevents not only exploits from executing, but also hacks like aimbot and the like. This also prevents unsigned software updates from running, and custom firmware cannot be loaded.

Xbox games and apps also run in separate sandboxes, so no app or game can read or modify other people's data. So even if you manage to infiltrate aimbot's signed software or hack into Xbox Store as an app, you won't be able to run it in another app's code. Each component also works in standalone virtualization with Hyper-V, so even if you can hack into one virtual machine, you won't be able to access another. All of this would not be useful if an exploit was found that would allow the content being processed to be read into the console's memory, and the ability to have one application replace data from another. Xbox uses the same kernel as Windows, both systems store data in memory randomly. Although, if the memory is accessed, it will still be impossible to overwrite the data in the RAM. So, with the launch of Xbox Series X, it was confirmed that Xbox One was the first console not to be hacked in its entire commercial life as the company's best console since its launch 7 years ago. This marks a new milestone for the future as console piracy is eliminated, and Microsoft has put a big first stone on this path.
