
The Chinese short video app TikTok has been gaining popularity recently, reportedly as the second most downloaded app in the world in the third quarter of 2019, with over 176 million new installs.
Many apps, including Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram, do not allow you to download videos even if these videos are uploaded to your own account.Usually, a third-party application is required, but with TikTok you can download videos in several different ways.
TikTok allows you to download videos directly to other people, however, regardless of TikTok's policies, you should keep in mind the privacy of people, and not misuse these methods for any unlawful purpose.
Here's how to download TikTok videos on your desktop and phone:
You can easily download TikTok videos on Android devices, or iPhones where the app has a download button that lets you instantly save the video you are watching on your device.
But to use this method you must download the application to your device, and sign in, as the download option will not work unless you log in, and then follow these steps:
Navigate to the video you want to download, then tap it.
You'll see a few quick actions in the bottom right corner of the video player, and you'll find the feature you're looking for under the Share button, tap it.
You will see the apps you can share the video on, and below it there are several options including Save Video.

How can you download TikTok videos on your desktop and phone?
Please note that when you share a video from TikTok, the app automatically sends the video instead of the link, so you don't have to manually press the Save as video button when you only want to share the video on a messaging or social media app.
How to download TikTok videos as animated GIF:
With the TikTok app, you can download videos as GIF animations, where the Share as GIF option is located at the far right of the same row as saving the video. When pressed, TikTok lets you cut the video as you like too, then press Generate to save a GIF file to your phone.
Note that TikTok users have the ability to block downloading videos from their accounts by making them private. In this case, the Save video button will not be available to you. Here you can record your phone screen while the video is playing to save it.
On iOS, users can take advantage of the original screen recording option, and add it to the control center for quick access, by following these steps:
Go to Settings on your iPhone.
Press the Control Center option.
Click Customize Controls, scroll down to the Screen Recorder tool, and click the green circle next to it to add it to the Control Center.
Android users will have to rely on a third-party screen recording app, where they run the app, then play the video, and then click the Record button.
Third, how to download TikTok videos on your desktop:
The option to download videos is not available on the web version of the TikTok app, so you will have to use a third-party service to download videos to your computer.
1- TikTok Videos Downloader:
This service allows you to download any TikTok video in its original quality, all you have to do is enter the link of the clip, and press the download button.
Open the TikTok video link in your web browser, and copy the page URL from the address bar at the top.
Once you get the link, head to the TikTok Videos Downloader site, then paste the URL into the text box in the middle.

Click the Download button below, then choose the format, where you can either download it as a video or an MP3 audio file. The video will be stored in the Downloads folder of your computer.

2- Add Instant to Chrome:
The second way is to install an extension called Instant on the Google Chrome browser, which allows you to easily download videos from Instagram and TikTok.
Once you've installed the Instant extension, you'll see a new Flash icon in the top right corner of Google Chrome, navigate to the TikTok video you want to download, then tap the Instant button to bookmark the clip.
Right-click the video again and select options, Instant will open a new page with all your saved TikTok or Instagram videos, and to download them to your computer, hover over the video thumbnail and click the orange arrow button.
Firefox users can use an extension called TikTok Downloader that does the same.
