How to Enable Dark Mode in Windows 10

You can now enable Dark Mode on Windows 10 as the default feature on the system, as well as for many Windows applications, which helps you conserve battery life and reduce eye strain.

Here's How to Enable Dark Mode in Windows 10:

  •   From the Start menu, choose Settings.
  •      Click on Personalization, then from the menu on the right, click on Colors.
  •      From the (Choose Your Default Windows Mode) section, select Dark.

How to Enable dark mode on applications:

The real problem with setting up dark mode is that desktop applications like File Explorer will continue to use the regular theme. To enable dark mode on Windows applications, you can follow the following steps:
  •     From the (Start) menu, choose (Settings).
  •     Click Ease of Access, and then click High Contrast.
  •     Enable Turn on High Contrast by pressing the toggle below.
  •     From the Choose a theme drop-down menu, choose "High Contrast Black", then click "Apply" to save the setting.

How toenable dark mode on apps individually:

If Dark Mode is not applied to applications in Windows 10 settings, you may need to set them individually for each application. Here's how to apply this to Microsoft Office and the Edge browser.

Enable dark mode in Microsoft Office:

Microsoft Office supports the dark mode feature, but it must be manually activated, and you can do it through the following steps:
  •      Open any Office application like: Word or Excel.
  •      Click on "File" in the upper right corner.
  •  From the list on the right, press Options.

  • Click on the General tab from the options menu on the right.
Under the "Personalize your copy of Microsoft Office" section, choose "Black" from the drop-down menu next to "Office Theme" option, then press "OK".

Enabling Dark Mode on Edge Browser:

  •      Open Edge browser, then press the menu button on the toolbar (the icon that has three dots on the far right side).
  •      Click the (Settings) option.

Select the Appearance category on the left side of the Settings page.

Under the "Customize Browser" section, click on the "Theme" box to bring up the drop-down menu, then choose "Dark".

It is noteworthy that only the title bar, toolbars and menus of the browser will turn to (dark color), but the web pages themselves will not be affected, and you will need an addition such as: Turn Off the Lights to make the entire page dark.
