YouTube is testing a gray progress bar

YouTube has rolled out a major redesign across its mobile apps and web. YouTube for Android is now testing a more accurate video progress bar that isn't red all the time.

On one of your Android devices, when you're watching a video with dark theme enabled, the YouTube progress bar is white/gray instead of the usual red. In these circumstances, YouTube also does not indicate the amount of video uploaded.

Interacting with the scrubber or clicking to bring up the controls changes it back to the previous behaviour, complete with the loading state. This helps fade the UI, which is something YouTube works towards.

Outside of the video player, red is still used in the main feed and elsewhere, so the change is clearly aimed at the viewing experience.
