Google has announced the start of testing a new feature designed to help users track their packages directly from the search engine.
The technology giant said in a post: “Often people come to Google search to search for information on the status of their packages. To facilitate the search, we have created a new parcel tracking feature that enables shipping companies to show the status of their packages to people on the search directly. ” The company said it has launched an early access program that enables shipping companies to view parcel details for their customers directly within the search engine.
Google explained that the feature does not ask the user only to enter his tracking number, and the status of the package to show all the details immediately, in case the company that asked them to participate in the program. The company also says that the Early Access Tracker Program is available to companies worldwide, but shipping companies must sign up for this feature.
It is not yet known whether the parcel tracking feature will make information publicly available, especially since such a feature should take privacy into account.
