Google brings Verified SMS and Spam Protection to Messages

Google announced today, Thursday, the launch of two new features for its messaging application on the Android system, and these features are designed to help users get rid of the inconvenience, and verify that the messengers are real people.

The American tech giant had launched the first feature, the spam feature, in some countries last January, but it is now also available in the United States.

If the messaging app detects a suspicious spam message, it will display a warning that the user can confirm whether or not they are spam. This feature will be activated automatically, and users will get a notification when it is available. Users will also be able to report spam at any time, in addition to the ability to block chats if those spam messages do not stop.

And if the user's spam detection feature is available, Google will temporarily store phone numbers that send messages but are not in the list of contacts, in order to facilitate the identification of spam senders, but the company says: The phone numbers will not be associated with the names of individual users.

In addition to detecting spam, Google is also launching the Verified SMS feature for messages the user sends to certain businesses. When the user sends a message to a trusted business, he will see the business’s name, logo, and verification badge in the thread.

The Verified SMS feature will gradually be available in a number of countries, including: Brazil, Canada, France, India, Mexico, the Philippines, Spain, the United Kingdom, and the United States.
