As part of its strategy to combat false news, Facebook has deleted hundreds of accounts that were run by an Israeli company to influence public opinion in many African countries, including Tunisia.

According to Facebook, it has deleted and blocked 265 accounts and pages on its social networking platform belonging to an Israeli company called "Archimedes". These accounts promote false political news in order to influence public opinion in a number of countries.

Facebook says target countries are in Africa, including Tunisia, as well as in South America and South Asia, where these accounts publish misleading news.
