Jeff Bezos, founder and CEO of Amazon Retail, has opened work to develop its $ 1.5 billion airport in northern Kentucky, which is expected to open by 2021
This air center allows Amazon to control its cargo operations and reduce its dependence on UPS, FedEx and US Postal Service, reducing costs and speeding delivery times.
Amazon has announced the Cincinnati - North Kentucky International Airport (CVG) air service center in 2017.
The company will operate 50 aircraft from the company, with a fleet of more than 100 Prime Air cargo aircraft. The company said last year it would lease 40 Boeing 767s, and 16 currently in service.
The company has secured a 50-year lease for more than 900 acres of ownership at Cincinnati Airport, which is roughly equivalent to the size of the world's leading shipping carriers, such as FedEx and UPS.
Sarah Rhoads, director of Amazon Air, said the center is expected to include 2,000 Amazon employees, adding that Amazon Air will help customers by ensuring they have free and fast delivery of their shipments.
"This air hub will allow us to deliver packages to customers faster, and reduce the delivery time of prime service - Amazon's service to customers with unlimited deliveries for $ 119 a year, as well as a two-day television and music service," said Jeff Bezos. One.
The giant e-commerce company said it expects to spend $ 800 million this quarter to make the change necessary to reduce the delivery time of Prime service shipments.
The air center, located on the southern side of the airport, includes a yard intended to accommodate aircraft for loading, unloading, refueling or maintenance, as well as a control tower and a sorting facility.
Amazon Air will be part of the growing cargo operations at the CVG airport, as the amount of cargo transported through the airport has doubled over the past five years and is home to DHL's North American air hub.
The air hub is part of Amazon's long-term plan to expand its transport and delivery network, thereby reducing its reliance on third-party carriers. In December, the airline expanded its fleet of cargo planes to 50 aircraft - all Boeing 767.
We’re investing $1.5 billion in our new air hub to get you your packages faster. Three million square feet, and it’s going to create 2,000 jobs. And if you’re guessing that driving a front loader was fun, you’re right! #amazon #prime pic.twitter.com/Cud4orKrC4— Jeff Bezos (@JeffBezos) ١٤ مايو ٢٠١٩
